Procedure to start Online Pharmacy store in India

Online pharmacy generally follow drug and cosmetic act and it should also follow all rule and regulation given under IT act. There is not any special act or provision is not provided else, to regulate online pharmacy in India. You need to set up own online E-commerce website and mobile application for start online pharmacy or you can create your own paid seller account at any existing online portals or store.

Here you need to start physical pharmacy store as local pharmacy shop before starting your own online pharmacy portal, online pharmacy application or paid merchant account at any other online portal as document requirement for the online pharma pharmacy is same as starting traditional pharmacy store. As per rules, offline or traditional pharmacy store is mandatory before starting online pharmacy or selling medicine online. It requires complete documents and need to follow all procedure. You will also require a presence of pharmacist at online pharmacy store so he can receive and process drug prescription given by customers and their associates.

Drug License for Retail:

  • ·         Purchase bill of appliances and other equipments.

GST Number (Goods and Services Tax):

GST number is mandatory for all online pharmacy store having annual turnover of any amount of rupees, It is also compulsory for offline store having turnover over 20 lacs annually. You need to start online store only after obtaining GST number and drug license number from concern drug authority. Online pharmacy store can be start by making account in any online portals or by creating own E-commerce pharmacy store or web application. Now you can start your own online pharmacy store in India after completing above procedures.

Government is planning to launch following provisions to regulate online pharmacies in India.
  • ·         For selling medicines online, it requires a valid Prescription by registered healthcare professionals.
  • ·         It should have physical address for annual inspection of drug quality and standards.
  • ·         All online pharmacies must have enrolled with government authority.
  • ·         All online pharmacies should have valid drug license number.
  • ·         Registered pharmacist is required at each online pharma store for suggesting all queries of customers. 
  • ·         They cannot schedule X drugs.
  • ·         They have to also fulfill IT act 2000.
